VOLUNTEER

The volunteer experience at CEA provides endless opportunities for adults of all ages that will challenge your curiosity and encourage you to grow, learn, meet new people (and creatures), and immerse yourself in a different culture and language.

Why volunteer with CEA?

  • Research and discover marine life in their natural habitat

  • Work side by side with experienced scientists and researchers

  • Gain new and valuable work experience and/or skills

  • Learn marine conservation practices

  • Contribute to our conservation efforts

Requirements

All CEA volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • Have valid insurance for both medical services and diving

  • Have a valid passport and visa for the length of your stay

  • Ensure you have all the recommended vaccinations and take any prescribed or advised medication and/or treatment

  • Be able to commit to a minimum of one month. Note that project fees, intake dates, and time commitment vary according to the project. 

  • Be able to perform duties and tasks according to the program or project you wish to participate in

  • Be enthusiastic and adventurous, be able to work as part of a team, be respectful of the host country’s environment and cultures, and have a good sense of humor.

The Terms and Conditions summarize aspects such as fees, refunds, liability and more. We ask volunteers to read these BEFORE submitting applications.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Unless accompanied by a parent, we do not accept volunteers under the age of 21.

  • A strict screening of applications will be made according to the number of applicants for the program and / or experience or skill set.

  • Once requests are submitted, allow a minimum of 10 business days for processing or response

Internships + Research Projects

In addition to its own independent research, CEA hosts visiting researchers in various fields from around the world. University students wishing to develop projects using CEA’s data or collect new data/research projects while under the supervision of an advisor or co-advisor should contact CEA directly at communications.ceakumal@gmail.com
