A group of incredibly dedicated residents has been instrumental in supporting the turtle program, including their help with the not so glamorous, yet important behind-the-scenes work.

What activity do you do? What is your role at CEA's sea turtle camp? My role has been to assist the senior Vts and gather data, document turtle nest, false crawls, and assist with the hatching process, as well as learning the difference between the turtles.
How important do you think the work of the VT is? I think our roles are important to help to maintain the existence of the turtles.
There are many different NGOs… what made you fall in love with this project? I enjoy walking the beach & exercising so naturally I have come across the baby turtles in the morning at Bahia beach and notice the birds trying to eat the little stray turtles. Naturally, I tried to track someone down who would help me save the little babies from an ill fate.
When you come home after spending a morning helping nesting moms… what are you taking with you? What does it bring you on a personal level? It brings me a positive feeling of satisfaction.
What qualities do you think it takes to volunteer in the association?
Love of nature, & fauna, as well as stamina, enthusiasm to walk the beach.
Do you remember your first day as a volunteer? How was your experience?
Learning something new is always exciting.
And how was your first contact with a turtle? What surprised you the most?
We started early in the morning and was able to see a Moma turtle returning to the sea, it was breathtaking.
What would you say to someone who is considering volunteering or not?
Would you encourage him to do it? I would ask if they are committed enough to either wake up super early or stay up very late, also it can get very hot, dirty, & a bit laborsome.
If you could change something to improve the CEA turtle camp, what would it be?
Maybe some formal classes could be helpful in the learning process, Films, prompts, etc.
What message would you like to share with the readers of this short review?
It is a pleasure to work with the turtles and also to preserve our environment I feel this is very important, and we should be grateful for our planet earth.

¿Qué actividades realizas? ¿Cuál es tu papel en el campamento de tortugas marinas de CEA? Mi función ha sido ayudar a los VTs con más experiencia y recopilar datos, documentar nidos de tortugas, rastreos falsos y ayudar con el proceso de eclosión, así como aprender la diferencia entre las tortugas Caguama y Blanca.
¿Qué tan importante crees que es el trabajo de los VT? Creo que nuestros roles son importantes para ayudar a mantener la existencia de las tortugas.
Hay muchas ONG diferentes ... ¿qué te hizo enamorarte de este proyecto? Disfruto caminar por la playa y ejercitarme, por lo que, eventualmente me topé con crías de tortuga una la mañana en el resort de Bahía Príncipe y noté que los pajaros trataban de comerse a las pequeñas tortugas perdidas. Naturalmente, intenté localizar a alguien que me ayudara a salvar a los bebés de un destino malo.
Cuando llegas a casa después de pasar una mañana ayudando a las madres que anidan ... ¿qué te llevas a nivel personal? Me trae un sentimiento positivo de satisfacción.
¿Qué cualidades crees que se necesitan para ser voluntario en la asociación?
Amor por la fauna y naturaleza, así como resistencia y entusiasmo por caminar por la playa.
¿Recuerdas tu primer día como VT? ¿Cómo fue tu experiencia?
Aprender algo nuevo siempre es algo emocionante.
Y, ¿cómo fue tu primer contacto con una tortuga?
Empezamos temprano por la mañana y pude observar a una mamá tortuga regresar al mar. Fue asombroso.
¿Qué le dirías a alguien que está considerando ser Voluntourist? Le preguntaría si está lo suficientemente comprometido como para levantarse muy temprano o quedarse despierto hasta muy tarde, también puede estaría dispuesto a trabajar con este clima tan caluroso, ensuciarse y trabajar duro.
Si pudieras cambiar algo para mejorar el campamento de tortugas CEA, ¿qué sería?
Tal vez algunas clases formales podrían ser útiles en el proceso de aprendizaje, películas, mensajes, etc.
¿Qué mensaje te gustaría compartir con los lectores de esta breve reseña?
Es un placer trabajar con las tortugas y también para preservar nuestro medio ambiente. Creo que esto es muy importante, y deberíamos estar agradecidos con nuestro planeta tierra.
