Reaching out to communities
Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort recently donated 1,500 items to CEA, which included pillows, curtains, bedspreads and mats. We then connected with other non-governmental organizations in Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, Playa del Carmen and Cancun so that those donations could be forwarded to people in the communities that they serve.
The beneficiary organizations included:
Foundation Aitana (Cancun) is dedicated to serving children fighting cancer by providing assistance to low-income families so that their children can receive treatment in other cities (Merida, Mexico City, Chetumal and Queretaro) which have oncology services.
Orgullo Cuidadano A.C. (Cancun)—focuses on helping the most vulnerable populations, including seniors and single mothers. It provides assistance with medical services, legal advice, education, and food.
Asociación Civil Eleonora Mendoza (Playa del Carmen)—works to reduce and gradually eliminate domestic violence with comprehensive care, based on the gender perspective.
Transformar Educando, A.C. (Puerto Aventuras, Akumal, Chetumal)—develops education programs, job training, and provides community social psychology.
