Play it Safe at the Beach
To ensure a happy and safe vacation on the beaches of Akumal, it is important to follow some general safety guidelines. Please learn about the beach flag warning system and pay attention to the flags, and lifeguards, as well as the bay zoning while on the beach.
Flags are posted along the beach and beach conditions are monitored throughout the day. The flag system used in Akumal is derived from the guidelines provided by Protecion Civil.
What do the beach flags mean?
Lifeguards on duty
Lifeguards are on duty from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are located in several areas along Akumal Bay: in front of the main commercial entrance; in front of Hotel Akumal Caribe, in front of Secrets and in front of Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort.
